Vassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist. He was known for being one of the pioneers of abstract art. He was born in 1866, and he studied law and economics, but then turned to art in his 30s. His work is vibrant and expressive, often filled with bold colors and dynamic shapes. Now there is a temporary exhibition in the National Museum in Oslo where you can learn more about Kandinsky and his works.
Kandinsky believed that art could evoke emotions similarly to music, and this idea influenced his abstract style. He spent his life experimenting with different artistic techniques and concepts, leaving a lasting impact on the art world. Whether you’re a fan of modern art or just curious, Kandinsky’s work is a fascinating journey into the abstract.
The exhibition is on loan from the Centre Pompidou in Paris and was put together with the help of curator Anne Montfort-Tanguy.
